Romantic tales of princes and princesses, or how I chose my little girl's earrings.

I am not a romantic person, and the scenes in films where he proposes on one knee in public are not my sort of thing. I would rather that no one knew a thing about us, that it be just the two of us with no onlookers in the moments that are only about us.

What brought on this romantic streak? Let me tell you. We decided to change our young lady's earrings. We judged that she had grown enough and that the ones she had worn since birth were no longer suitable. With her birthday coming up, they would make the perfect gift. Although I love surprises, we wanted to let her choose for herself. I told her what the maximum budget was and we went onto the website we were going to buy from. As I was feasting my eyes on the earring designs (just between us, I would have taken them all), up came the question: but why from here?

I launched into technical explanations: that the diamonds are certified internationally, that they use only pure 18-carat gold, that they give a guarantee which is, in a way, eternal. I told her it is a serious investment and that we prefer to choose a trustworthy shop when we buy gold jewellery, and that the earrings we were going to buy she would be able to pass down to her children and grandchildren, that they could become a family heirloom, just as we see in films. You know how terribly curious children are. The conversation did not end there, and in fact my answer had not really interested her at all. "This is where Daddy bought your engagement ring too, isn't it?" So that is where she was heading! She is at the age of romantic tales about princes and princesses who love one another into deep old age, and any story of this kind captures her attention. The answer was yes. In truth, the ring itself hardly mattered, even though it was as beautiful as in my dreams. What mattered was that moment when he gave it to me, that he had sat and searched until he found the most beautiful engagement ring, one that was not also the most expensive. I could just picture him scouring the internet for something that would be just for me. I could picture him wondering whether or not I would like it. The care with which he chose still moves me today. And thank goodness he had plenty to search through, because the website has rings for every taste. Just looking at them lifts your spirits with their beauty. And when he gave it to me it was just the two of us and one question full of emotion. He knew the answer, but it is like when you record yourself and hear your own voice for the first time. It is a question that, the first time you ask it, you believe is also the last. And, in the happiest cases, so it is. Then we chose the wedding rings from there. Both of us, late one evening, sat down at the laptop and began to search. We wanted something simple, like us, but not dull, for dull is the one thing we are not. Naturally, both our eyes fell on the same design. We went to the shop, paid for them, and that was that. As with everything important we have done in life, we understood one another at a glance, all at once, with no need for words. My daughter woke me from my daydream. "I want these ones with the garnet butterfly! I'll be just like a princess! But you should know I'm never giving them to anyone as an heirloom, because they're too beautiful!" Can I disagree with her? I cannot! They really are very beautiful, as indeed would be any other pair she might have chosen. The Timeless Guarantee and International Certification, or How to Buy Diamond Jewellery in Complete Safety

When you set out to buy a piece of gold jewellery with diamonds, it isn't like heading to the mall to buy yourself some clothes. Without belittling the buying of clothing, we'll just say that an engagement ring or a pair of wedding rings are a serious, long-term investment.

There are a few steps that anyone who decides to buy a valuable piece of jewellery takes, more or less consciously.

We'll refer to the situation most of us find ourselves in when we're looking for something: in front of a laptop or, most likely, with a phone in hand.

If we can also check in a physical shop what we've found online, then the purchase becomes even safer.

Online research

It's very likely you'll start by looking for an engagement ring design with diamonds. At this stage you may not necessarily care about the brand. You just want to get an idea of how it should look. And, yes, 99% of the time the person searching is a he. Because she is the one who will be surprised. And admired and... envied. Simply because she wears that ring that looks spectacular.

You have search engines and dozens of websites, photos, reviews and comments at your disposal. And you need plenty of imagination and intuition. Why? Well, so you hit upon the design she'll like and manage to picture her wearing it.

In the case of a pair of gold wedding rings, the mission is a little simpler. You get an idea online too but... this time there are two of you and, what's more, you can even afford to leave the choice on her shoulders.

You consult each other broadly to bring your opinions into line and that's about it. You choose a type of personalisation and move on, because a wedding isn't so easy to organise, is it?

Safety Shopping

Perhaps you haven't heard of this concept, because it's quite possible we've just invented it so that together we can understand how important the security of a valuable purchase is.

One of the leading websites operating in this field in Romania, diamante.ro gives us an example of how a customer should be treated in this rather exclusive sector: complete, visible information and sections dedicated to after-sales services, as well as a great many technical aspects explained. A sort of "this is how it's done".

Once the design has been chosen, the purchase remains to be made and here it's strictly up to the customer where they want to buy from.

"All purchases from diamante.ro come with strong guarantees that give the customer complete peace of mind. For 25 years we have been crafting diamond jewellery in our own workshops and we work only with pure 18kt gold.

Every piece of jewellery under the FIRESQ brand has a certificate of conformity and a hallmark, and diamonds with a carat weight greater than 0.10ct are laser-inscribed with a unique security code and come accompanied by GEMOLOGICAL CERTIFICATES issued by accredited international laboratories (IGI, IGL, HRD, GIA, EGL)", says Marian Constantinescu, CEO of Diamante.ro/FIRESQ.

After-sales services show whether the seller is serious

A good argument when buying a piece of diamond jewellery is also the after-sales services, which say quite a lot about the seller. There are both free and paid after-sales services.

For instance, professional cleaning, applying a layer of rhodium by electrolysis, checking the setting or adjusting the size of the piece within the first 30 days of purchase are free.

"We also have paid after-sales services, such as work on deformations of the setting or band, or replacing missing precious stones or pearls. These are qualified professional repairs that we carry out as the manufacturer, only for jewellery bearing the FIRESQ brand. It's a great advantage for the customer to be able to request these services directly from the workshop that created and produced the piece.

What's more, what we call the Timeless Guarantee gives customers complete assurance that the piece they've bought can be passed down as an heirloom and, no matter who wears it or when, they can come to us to have it repaired or remade.

Being a brand with a history behind it, we already have cases where a piece created in 1995 was worn and then given away, and the daughter of that person came in with the piece after, would you believe, 23 years, to have it remade. It's extremely important for customers to know that they can rely on us and that makes me happy", says Marian Constantinescu, CEO of Diamante.ro/FIRESQ.
