Diamond classification, classification reports, cut classification and terminology

Diamond grading reports are important documents issued by accredited and internationally recognized institutions, providing the detailed recommendation letter of the diamond. These stipulate the unique fingerprint of the diamond, which is a source of essential information in the classification of gemologists, jewelers or end consumers. A diamond grading report will contain a complete description of the diamond's quality and will include information about its cut, weight, clarity, fluorescence, color, measurements, proportions and polish. It will also confirm whether that stone is indeed a genuine diamond. Such a diamond grading report will allow you to purchase your favorite diamond with the utmost confidence.

A quality certificate also includes the stone's color grade. The color of a diamond is evaluated by comparing it to the Gemological Institute of America’s color scale, which is based on a series of well-known diamond colors. This grading system takes the form of a table labeled with letters from D to Z, where D marks the beginning of the table, representing the lightest color, thus becoming the most valuable while Z is the yellow in the color table and has a lower value.

The clarity of the diamond is also graded, an assessment of each blemish or inclusion that may be inside or on the surface of the stone. The type and position of these inclusions determine the degree of clarity, and this is how we also find out its value. A diamond grading report will include a sketch showing the stone's inclusions. They are noted as follows: "crystals", "feathers", "pinpoints", "naturals", "scratches" and "clouds" among others. Because every diamond is unique, the sketch is like a fingerprint for identifying every particularity of the stone. A diamond can be compared to its certificate by examining it with a 10x magnifying glass.

The diamond's weight in carats is also listed on the certificates. One carat is equivalent to 200 milligrams, or 0.2 grams. The dimensions of the diamond will be expressed in millimeters.

Not all laboratories grade a diamond's cut or describe the nature of its inclusions and their characteristics. You will find information about depth and surface percentages, table percentage, and general comments regarding stone’s symmetry and polish. AGS ensures an evaluation of a diamond's cut, rated on a scale from 0 la 10, where 0 represents a cut with ideal proportions and 10 represents a less successful cut. Other labs may grade the Cut as "Excellent", "Very Good", "Good", "Fair" or "Poor".

FIRESC may use terminology that is commonly used in the diamond industry. Such comments may include terms as "beautiful", "eye clean", "faceted, but they refer only to opinions. These opinions may change from time to time, depending on changes in classification techniques, equipment and interpretation.

The diamonds we offer for sale are certified by international laboratories (GIA, IGI and HRD). We offer certified diamonds for sale, in compensation for the fact that you are choosing a stone without seeing it.

FIRESC offers warranty for the quality of the jewelry sold.

Remember that a jewelry is a piece of adornment, not a mechanical assembly, while gold, even if it is a metal, does not possess the hardness of steel. We are not to be held responsible for damage to jewelry due to excessive or careless wearing or improper storage.

Customers may return products purchased online within 15 days of receiving the merchandise. The product must be new, unused, unworn and accompanied by the original sale documents. You will need to call +40784888222 (during business hours) to receive a return authorization number. Once the product has been received in good condition, the money will be transferred to your account. We will not be responsible for the product you send until it arrives at our offices. Please pay attention to the non-refundable orders. Please read the Returns Policy before making a purchase.

The warranty period is 2 years for all products purchased (including bespoke jewellery), as per local legislation in force. FIRESC unlimitedly guarantees the qualities and physico-chemical properties of the jewelery.

FIRESC offers free post-purchase services

FIRESC guarantees that any product you purchase through the website is eligible for free after-sales service, provided that it is accompanied by the original invoice or certificate of conformity issued by Smirneos & Co., the briefing note, or any other document issued by the seller that includes the merchandise code and product specifications.

FIRESC is not responsible for products that have been worn excessively or improperly, or that have been damaged. Diamonds are resistant to impacts from blows and scratches, and can only be cut and polished by another diamond. However, a very strong impact can cause a chip in the diamond. A chip can also occur while the diamond is under stress, such as when it is being set or removed by untrained individuals.

Jewelry, like any other product, requires periodic care and maintenance. We recommend that you have your jewelry checked once a year. Don't forget that a piece of jewelry is an ornament, not a mechanical device and even though gold is a metal, it isn't as hard as steel. We are not liable for damage to jewelry caused by excessive or careless wear or improper storage. For jewelry purchased from FIRESC, you can take advantage of post-purchase services (professional cleaning, setting inspection, rhodium plating for white gold jewelry, and any minor repairs caused over time by improper handling of the jewelry) by presenting the jewelry along with the documents issued at the time of purchase at FIRESC showrooms in Bucharest and Constanța (see map). FIRESC is pleased to provide you with this maintenance/check-up free of charge. Any repair or modification of the jewelry made by someone other than FIRESC experts will void any warranty.

Order duration

The processing time for an order is a maximum of 10 business days from the time of full advance payment for the ordered diamond, or payment of half the amount in the case of wedding rings and other types of jewelry.

Shipping and insurance are free within Romania. For international shipments, the shipping cost will be calculated automatically before you place your order.

All jewelry sold on our website is designed and crafted in Romania, in compliance with European legislation regarding gold karat and the alloy used. The solder does not contain cadmium.
